Meet Our Communications Chair
Karissa Walsworth
I’m Karissa Walsworth, Graphic Designer at Margaritaville Resort Casino, and this is my second year to serve as a communications chair.
I became involved with AAFSB while I was a student at Louisiana State University in Shreveport. One of my professors, Allen Garcie, advised his students to submit for the ADDY Awards. I was intrigued and applied junior and senior year. Little did I know that I would win a Student ADDY Award both years.
When I attended the ADDY Gala, I heard about the Jim Leslie Memorial Scholarship. A few months later I applied and was awarded this scholarship. I am still grateful to have received it! For those of you who don’t know, The Jim Leslie Memorial Scholarship is in honor of the late Jim Leslie, a journalist for The Shreveport Times.
A year after graduating with my Bachelors Degree, I started working at Richard Creative with Danielle Richard, a past president with AAFSB. Not long after working with Danielle, I got to help out on some of the e-blasts that she put together. She brought me to one of her board meetings to listen and see what AAFSB is all about. Following that meeting, I signed up for the board of directors and I haven’t looked back!
Ad Fed will always have a special place in my heart. I encourage you to get involved anyway that you can. Adven10n is just around the corner and that would be a great way to get started with AAFSB!
