Meet Our Programs Co-Chair

Karissa Walsworth

Dellanee Wade

My name is Dellanee Wade, and I am currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design at Louisiana Tech University. During my spare time, not only am I working on my thesis, I serve as the Programs Chair for the AAFSB Executive Board.

I have been an active member of the American Advertising Federation of Shreveport-Bossier since 2016. I was a senior at Centenary College of Louisiana, and Professor Jessica Hawkins encouraged me to get involved with the organization and enter my design work in the ADDYs. I remember feeling discouraged about my chances of winning along with not making connections. She said, “Dellanee, do not sell yourself short. You will have your opportunities. And also, you have a bubbly personality! You will make plenty of connections. You got this!” She was not wrong. I won my first ADDY Award and became part of one of the best, influential organizations in North Louisiana.

I definitely took my networking, involvement, and career opportunities seriously as I was influenced by my past bosses at Louisiana Association for the Blind, Lindsey Beckham and Brandy Garison. Working for them as a graphic design/marketing intern, I got to see how hard they worked in and out of the office. I definitely saw how fun, but important it was to not only work full-time, but be involved with your community.

After receiving my Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, I had the opportunity to work for  Richard Creative as their Graduate Intern. Danielle Richard, who was my boss, was also an active board member of AAFSB. She was very encouraging about why it was such a great organization and the benefits that come along with it whether being a student or professional. I knew that continuing to be part of AdFed while attending graduate school was a smart decision.

I am very blessed to be a part of the board. Not only do I get to plan awesome programs with my Co-Chair, Steven Knight, but I get to spend more time with my old bosses and college classmates. I really missed them. AdFed has really gotten me connected with some of the most creative minds that I could have ever come across. They have inspired me that no matter what to continue to help, inspire, and give back to the communities. I highly encourage everyone to get involved with the American Advertising Federation of Shreveport-Bossier. We have many programs taking place during this upcoming year, especially in April - Advent10n 2019. It would be a great way to get your foot in the door and meet some amazing people.
