First and foremost I am a wife and the mother of 2 sweet girls, ages 5 and 7. I attend Koran Baptist Church in Haughton, LA and enjoy working in the nursery and volunteering for Vacation Bible School. My family and I enjoy camping and go every chance we get! In my spare time (I don’t get too much), I enjoy crafting with vinyl.
I am the graphic designer/administrator of L.A.B. Printing and Office Supply, a division of Louisiana Association for the Blind (L.A.B.). We are a non-profit organization whose mission is to train, employ and provide services to people who are blind. As a part of National Industries for the Blind (NIB), L.A.B. participates in the nation's AbilityOne program, providing quality products to the government made by Americans with visual and other severe disabilities. L.A.B. produces over 250 different SKILCRAFT® products such as copy paper, peel-and-stick nonskid, abrasive sanding cloths and many more. Our direct labor workforce is made up of over 80% visually impaired employees. In addition to providing jobs we have a Low Vision Rehabilitation Center that provides training and services for people of all ages with low vision blindness. Your purchases support programs and services for people who are blind or visually impaired in NWLA. I have been with this organization for almost 10 years. It is very rewarding to go to work every day and know that you are making a difference.
I was introduced to AAFSB at the 2014 Addy’s by my friend and co-worker, Lindsey Melancon. I attended the Addy’s almost every year after. There was a need for a secretary on the Board, and Lindsey thought I would be a good fit. I am so honored to be a part of this amazing group! I have met so many new people…some of which are becoming lifelong friends. I am so thankful for their inspiration, advice, laughs and most of all their friendship!
