AAFSB 2018 - 2019 Vice President & ADDY Chair: Laurie Priftis
So here’s my confession: when asked what I do for fun or what my hobbies are, my answer is volunteering on the Ad Fed board. That’s how passionate I am about what this organization stands for and my belief in the positive way we serve the community.
While at Centenary, I had the opportunity to intern with Danielle Richard of Richard Creative. Danielle was serving as President of the board at the time, and Erin Smith was ADDY Chair. I remember Danielle and Erin putting together the slideshow for the American Advertising Awards and I got to help with that (among other things) that year. That was my first introduction to Ad Fed.
I was hired right before graduation to be the Digital Media Specialist at Williams Creative Group. We’re all about strategic thinking at WCG so when Erin invited me to a luncheon a year later, it was a no-brainer. I knew I needed to be involved with this organization and I knew I wanted to be ADDY Chair.
The best part of being ADDY Chair (and this board) is getting to be an advocate for our local industry and the talent that lives here. The creatives in Shreveport are doing amazing work that deserves to be recognized. We have some amazing plans in the works, and you can find out all about it at our October Ads After Dark, happening at Bon Temps Coffee Bar. If you’ve created the funniest, cleverest, prettiest campaign, commercial or website, you NEED to enter the 2019 ADDY Awards (and I’ll see you at Bon Temps Coffee Bar in October!)
I’ve heard that the work you do while you procrastinate is the work you should be doing for the rest of your life. If that’s true, then I should probably sign up for a lifetime membership to Ad Fed. Where can I get one of those?
