Welcome to CommNEXT, a conference for students and professionals in the fields of design, video, advertising, marketing, PR, and journalism! Presented by the American Advertising Federation of Shreveport-Bossier and the Shreveport Journalism Foundation, CommNEXT is an event where students and professionals have the opportunity to learn more about the communications and digital media fields from industry experts!
Topics at this year's event will include PR campaigns, fake news, freelancing, design thinking, social design, video campaigns, and more! CommNEXT brings together students and professionals for an inspirational educational experience like none other!
CommNEXT is going to be held at the LSUS University Center on Saturday, October 21. The cost is $25/person.

Join AAFSB and PRAL for lunch on April 7 and hear from our speaker, creative thinker and designer, Allen Garcie!
Think you’re not creative? Having trouble breaking through a creative wall? No problem! During this hands-on session, you’ll learn creativity-enhancing tools that will help you break out of your established thinking patterns and tap into your own creative process. You'll be generating new and innovative ideas before you know it! (Note: This session is for anyone looking to increase their level of creativity and is not limited to only those in a "creative" field. Writing utensils and a notepad are a must!)
Allen Garcie is a Shreveport-based educator, trainer, graphic designer, and all-around creative thinker with over 19 years of combined professional and teaching experience in the field of design and other forms of digital media.
In his career, he has received national recognition and several national awards, as well as multiple ADDY advertising awards, for his designs. He also maintains multiple industry-level Adobe and other certifications.
He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in graphic design from Louisiana Tech University, master’s degrees in both education and graphic design from Northwestern State University, and a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from LSU Shreveport.
It's ADDY time!
December 10 is the official call for entries date for the ADDYs. So RUSH on over to the Robinson Film Center to have some lunch with us and hear from the District 10 ADDY chair, Marc Eisenberg, on any category and rule changes. Marc will also tell us more about AAF, our district (10) and other opportunities for involvement. After lunch, snag those ADDY packets for your chance at the GOLD!
We'll be collecting donations and supplies to support the Renzi Education and Art Center, a local non-profit that provides free, high-quality after-school academic and art classes and summer camp to K-12 youth in Shreveport-Bossier. They often need art, school, office, and cleaning supplies to implement their programs and maintain their facilities. Click here to see their wish list.
